Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Land: Is it worth the hype? (2023)

Star Wars Land (aka Galaxy's Edge)opened at Disneyland earlier this summer. One of the most popular attractions and curiosities in Star Wars Land isCantina Ogas. And for good reason. Who never imagined going into Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine?(From Episode IV, A New Hope, where Luke and Obi-Wan meet Han Solo and Chewbacca.)Order a funky space drink. Listen to a live alien band. You can find a smuggler to hitchhike to Alderaan.

The creators and thought leaders behind Star Wars Land have created an incredible atmosphere across the country. Entering through the gates ofBlackspire OutpostBatuu wants to get on the set of one of the movies. But stepping into the dark, cozy feel of Oga's Cantina is what makes for a truly immersive experience.

Oga's follows the suggestion of this canteenepisode IV. It's no wonder so many fans are dying to take their time and cool off in an inspired well in such a memorable location. It helps that Oga's Cantina is the first place in Disneyland where an average adult citizen can order alcohol. That is, in addition to the privileged few who have access to privacyclub 33.

Enter Oga's Cantina

Like most Disneyland restaurants, Oga's Cantina operates on a reservation basis due to limited indoor space. Reservations are currently only possible onDisneyland-App, or through theDisneyland site reservation system. And Oga reservations are only available for the same day. That could change as Disney learns and adapts its crowd control methods.

Access to Star Wars Land currently requires the following:

  1. Get to Disneyland early and wait in line, or…
  2. Join what Disney calls a "boarding party" (a virtual lineup) through the Disneyland app or...
  3. Have a reservation for Oga's Cantina (or Savi's Workshop).

Please note that attending a boarding party granting access to Star Wars Land DOES NOT guarantee you a visit to Oga's Cantina. At this time, you must have a separate reservation to enter Oga.However, as mentioned above, if you get a reservation for the Oga, reserving your Oga will also grant you access to Star Wars Land, even without having first joined a boarding group. You can enter Star Wars Land up to one hour before your Oga reservation time.

Make sure you visit Oga

If you really want to experience the canteen, we recommend trying to get a reservation at Oga's ASAP. Reservations seem to be availableDisneyland-Appas soon as the park opens, even if you're not physically in the park yet.

Therefore, please inquire about Disneyland's opening hours on the date of your visit and try to secure a reserved seat immediately. (Be sure not to check California Adventure's opening hours, which often differ from Disneyland's.) The issues are still being worked out, and Disney may make changes to Oga's reservation system as they figure out what's available for them. guests and their experience works best.

Oga's Cantina will remain a popular destination for Disneyland visitors for a long time to come. La Cantina has limited capacity and the limited number of reservation places can be filled in advance. Especially on busy days.

Due to the limited capacity of the canteen, guests cannot enter the canteen just to look, look around or take pictures. So unless you make a reservation in advance or wait until the end of the day, you might not be able to get into Oga's.

Seats in Oga (and lack of)

Please note that most of the space in Oga's Cantina is standing room only. There is no seating or standing in the canteen. Bar seating wraps around a large central U-shaped bar. Booths line the perimeter of the canteen. The rest of the seats are freestanding bar tables. The cabins are large and also U-shaped and can probably accommodate up to 8 people. If you're one of the lucky few to get a booth and you have 5 or less people in your party, expect to share your booth with other guests.

Bar seating will get a closer look at the action, but make it difficult to entertain for groups of four or more. Cabin seats are padded against the outer walls and offer an expansive view of most of the canteen.

The most unfortunate places are high tables. In addition to being a little large, they make it difficult for the little ones to see over the table. We're a little disappointed that Disney doesn't offer footstools or even some kind of footstool to relax on. Those high peaks aren't the most relaxing after walking around Disneyland for any length of time. But we understand that space is limited. Please note that prams and scooters are not allowed in the canteen. So that could be a factor in how (or if) you approach a visit to Oga.

Mixed drinks and prices

The Oga lounge menu is available throughout the day. The menu offers a variety of beers, wines, alcoholic cocktails and even a selection of soft drinks for children. Useful for you to know in advance: Oga imposes a minimum of one drink for each guest, including children. And they impose a maximum of two drinks per adult.

Soda prices range from $6 to $13, with a specialty "Cliff Dweller" drink in a souvenir Porg glass for $32. Alcoholic drinks range from $14 to $17 a little more, and a cocktail " Yub Nub" in a souvenir Endor mug is $42.

Alcohol brands used in Oga's Cantina cocktails include Ketel One Grapefruit & Rose Vodka, Tito's Vodka, Patron Silver Tequila, Herradura Reposado Tequila, Bacardi Superior Rum, Malibu Rum, Maker's Mark Bourbon. So you don't just get some healthy drinks.

But here's the most disappointing feature for us about the cocktails at Oga's. None of the mixed drinks are made to order. In fact, they all come pre-mixed from the taps behind the bar. I'm sure this adds to the efficiency and convenience of bar service. But it was disappointing to see all the cocktails being taken out of taps and pre-mixed containers. The only manually added components were embellishments and additions such as beads. The pre-mixed nature of Oga's cocktails also means there are no customizations or so-called off-menu drinks with specific alcohol. I'm not even sure if they have bottles behind the bar as we didn't see any.

beer and wine

Draft beers range from $12 to $13. This includes a Blue Point beer, a Ballast Point wheat beer, a New Belgium red beer and a tropical IPA from Sierra Nevada Brewing. Can't decide between these four and want to treat yourself to a souvenir with your beer? Order a Rancor Flight of Four, served in gear-shaped containers on a rustic board, for just $75. An Angry Orchard hard apple cider rounds out the $11 selection.

Wine drinkers have just two options, made especially for Oga's by Goldschmidt Vineyards of Sonoma: a $13 teal "Toniray" and the more traditional crimson "Imperial Guard" for $16. , bartenders pour wine from a tap.

minimal dining options

Don't come hungry and expect a wide variety of food at Cantina do Oga. After all, it's a canteen, not a takeaway. Head to Oga's for drinks and atmosphere. However, if someone needs a little refreshment to complement their liquid refreshment, the regular menu really only offers one option worth considering. Batuu Bits is a little dish of rice crackers, seaweed chips and wasabi peas, among other small bites, that looks more like a typical Asian bag of snacks.

I don't recommend "Oga's Obsession", a Petri dish of cotton candy flavored gelatinous spheres with a small amount of dried fruit zest sprinkled on top.

Additional breakfast items

If you arrive at Oga's in the morning, you can also choose from their special breakfast menu, which gives you a few more options to get you started. This includes your basic espresso drinks (double espresso, cappuccino and latte) and apple or orange juice. Alcoholic morning drinks include a $16 rum-based coffee drink and a $17 Bloody Rancor, the fairly straightforward version of Oga's Bloody Mary. If you really want to let off steam, kids can opt for the Blue Bantha, a non-dairy blue milk with sugar cookie.

(Tip: Want to try Blue Milk in Star Wars Land without the wait and prices at Oga's? You can also find them at the Milk Stand, just down the road from Oga's, along with Green Milk. Both versions are frozen mixed with dairy products - free Drinks based on rice and coconut milk).

Morning visitors also have a few other additions to the breakfast menu, including a bowl of dragon fruit oatmeal or a cinnamon roll with crumbled Oreo cookies, dubbed the "Mustafari Lava Roll".

This is how you get fast service at Oga's Cantina

I've heard from different people and now read different comments about many different experiences at Oga's. Some have great service and enjoy their time. Others waited frustratingly over 2 hours to take their order, get their drinks and finally pay a bill. (This is despite the supposed 45-minute limit allowed for each guest.)

As Star Wars Land continues to grow in popularity, wait times to enter the canteen and to be served may increase even further. It can get very crowded at Oga's. Your experience can vary greatly depending on what time of day you go or who is working that shift. My urgent advice (if you have a booth or high table) is to send one or two of your group straight to the bar. So, as soon as you call a bartender, order right there and bring your drinks to the table yourself, even if you make a few trips. We made and had our drinks within 5 minutes of arriving at our table. And we don't have to wait for a server to pay our bill.

Cantina Oga with children

Yes, Oga's welcomes families with children. However, to say that Oga's is kid-friendly would be an exaggeration. The canteen atmosphere definitely appeals more to adults and true Star Wars fans. As the cantina fills up, the noise level rises to levels typical of a crowded bar, with lots of chatter and upbeat beats led by the animatronic DJ R-3X.

Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Land: Is it worth the hype? (11)

I asked my 10 year old daughter what she thought of Oga. He gave it 4 out of 10 and said he probably wouldn't want to go back if given the chance. When I asked why, he mentioned the noisy environment that made it difficult to hear each other. The high tables were certainly not suitable for children. And he didn't like the drinks or the plate of Batuu Bits snacks. I admit you've only seen A New Hope once. And she probably didn't like (or maybe doesn't even remember) the importance and coldness of the cantina scene as much as I did.

If you're a family lucky enough to snag one of the few stalls, your kids can stick around long enough to get out and enjoy the canteen for a bit. But sitting at the bar would make family conversations difficult. And the high tables are uncomfortable for families with small and medium-sized children, as there are no seats or stools. Smaller children under 48″ cannot see over tables. To be honest, there isn't much for kids to do in Oga. Unless they like to experiment with steamy and carbonated drinks. Or, unless your kids are the type to just kick back and enjoy the atmosphere, young kids will get bored at Oga's quickly.

The other possible hurdle for families with children is the one-drink minimum for each person in your group. This includes any children with you. The minimum increases your overall bill and may reduce your budget experience. Younger kids might not like Oga very much unless they are big fans and remember the cantina scene.episode IV.

Overall Impression: Was Oga's Cantina worth the wait and hype?

For families with children under 12, I hesitate to give Oga a strong recommendation. I would only recommend a visit if you and your kids are die-hard Star Wars fans, all open to new experiences and determined to experience Oga. Teenagers will enjoy the experience more than younger children. In true Disney style, the canteen is kept clean and safe. The 2 drink maximum per guest (plus the 45-minute limit) helps to stop indecent and drunken behavior.

Oga's Cantina in Star Wars Land: Is it worth the hype? (12)

For groups of adults, or even parents with teens, I would definitely recommend adding a visit to Oga's Cantina to your Disneyland bucket list. It is an unforgettable experience. Entering Oga's, admiring all the details of the cantina, trying some fun drinks (although they are all draft) and soaking up the atmosphere of a bar on the edge of the galaxy is an unforgettable experience.

Take some selfies with your crazy galaxy-inspired drinks and share them with your friends. Just don't bother any lightsaber-wielding Jedi who might be passing by. You'll need these interlocking arms if you want to fly the Millennium Falcon.smugglers race.
